A revealing article about Joel Olsteen below:
I posted this on the ACF and the forum manager has blocked me. She does not want others to know the truth and now she is censoring us from learning the truth.

Also Jimmy Swaggart has a two week teaching about Joel and the errors of his ministry:

Excerpt:
...Door: Many are concerned that people are coming to your church and hearing only messages geared to make them feel good, and that there isnt any real spiritual growth taking place.

Osteen: I dont know if I would say that. I think that the biggest proof of spiritual growth is when we have to keep building bigger and bigger churches to hold all the happy people. We have a slogan here at Lakewood: If youre happy enough, people will know where you go to church. Jesus often spoke through smiles and that is what we are all about. We dont need to confuse anyone with doctrine or theology. That is for old people. If our people are anything like me, if I were to preach a sermon based on good solid theology, they would only walk away with headaches. ( The Door Magazine, July/August 2004)...

Another excerpt from the article:
Subject: Comments From a Pastor
....I do not judge Joel Osteen, his heart, or his motives. But I am at liberty by the Lords command to judge his message. If the Bible is the encyclopedia of life given to us by God. Joel Osteens messages have read only from the articles of prosperity and healing and success. There are still volumes he leaves unsaid to the detriment of his hearers. For though his church may have many Christians who were well schooled before they came to Lakewood, I am afraid that unbelievers who come in under this message are not hearing the true message of repentance Jesus commanded. Worse yet, by neglecting the hard teachings of the Bible, Lakewood Church is in danger of becoming a habitation wherin lost, and sinful people can come and enjoy pseudo-spirituality without ever having to come face to face with the God of Holiness."..

I appreciate that post.

Some people think that to speak up about certain other people [or their doctrine] in public ministry is a 'bad' thing. While I don't go in for some of the 'bashing' techniques employed by quite a few 'heresy hunter' type 'ministries,' I think we have to look objectively at all doctrine and speak out against whatever's false.

edited to add: These that are teaching unbiblical doctrine, also need to be brought back to the truth. That is why we can't go to them angry or screaming that they are 'heretics!' [not that you are, but some do.] In the course of looking for false doctrine, some have become heretics themselves, IMO. They pick apart people instead of focusing on doctrinal error. It is heartbreaking to me. Such pride.

Thanks for such a loving post with true direction. I found out about Joel thru a preacher that some do not forgive him for his past sin Jimmy Swaggart. I have started listenning to Jimmy about 4 months ago and he is being very loving in showing these kind of churches are not teaching the whole word of God. He says just as you indicate they need to be gently shown the truth. Jimmy admitted he was incorrect in the past and now wants to follow true doctrine. He now mostly teaches the cross and us dieing with Jesus on the cross daily. Dieing to sin, selfishness, and good works not directed by God.

It's good to point out false doctrine, but I think the best thing is to preach the Truth as the main course. The best ministries I know of are the ones who don't loudly proclaim that so many others are wrong and they are oh-so-right.

Have a great day.

:)
